Our Mission

The mission of the Fredericktown Revitalization Initiative, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is the thoughtful preservation of the architectural and cultural heritage of main street Fredericktown in balance with sustainable economic development to meet the needs of the Fredericktown community.

By using the Main Street Four Point Approach of design, organization, promotion, and economic restructuring in an inclusive, community-based process we will revitalize Fredericktown’s historic downtown district resulting in a greatly improved experience for people living, visiting, or doing business in downtown Fredericktown.

Building Facade and Design Assistance

The Fredericktown Revitalization Initiative, in its work to improve the Main Street community of Fredericktown began its Business Identity Program this summer. The program assists businesses with marketing by enhancing their image in the community in several ways including options for new graphics work such as logo design, a complete stationary design package, facade renderings and financial assistance for the installation of new awnings.

Because adding an awning to a storefront is a great way to improve the curb appeal of Main Street FRI offered financial aid to four businesses for the purpose of adding an awning. FRI worked with business and building owners to produce design renderings to help better visualize how storefronts might look with different awnings and other facade improvements. Throughout their history, awnings have had great appeal on Main Street. Along with drapes, curtains, shutters, and blinds they provided natural climate control in an age before air conditioning and tinted glass. By blocking out the sun's rays while admitting daylight and allowing air to circulate between interior and exterior, they are remarkably efficient and cost effective. Awnings permit window-shopping on rainy days; they protect show window displays from fading due to sunlight. On the primary facade and near eye level, they are central to a building's appearance.

FRI looks forward to continuing our work with Main Street businesses in an effort to increase the attractiveness and usability of our downtown community.  Interested? Contact the Design Committee.
